From tide pooling on the Pacific Coast to horseback riding in the Sierra Nevada foothills, our council-run camps offer girls a welcoming space to take healthy risks, discover more about themselves, and explore the outdoors. But let’s not forget the folks who make the magic happen each year—our camp staff. They come from diverse backgrounds: some are Green Bloods for whom Girl Scouts and Girl Scout camp were a core part of their childhood, while others join our team because they believe in our mission to inspire confidence, curiosity, and leadership in girls. Some staff members are native Californians while others hail from countries across the Atlantic. Despite their differences, all our camp leaders have at least one thing in common: their passion for providing girls with enriching and life-changing experiences.

We know sending your girls off to camp for the first time (or even the tenth time!) into the care of strangers can be tough, for caretakers and girls alike. So we’ve created a way for you to virtually meet the camp staff and directors in charge at all of our council-run camps this year! Get a feel for what our camps are all about and click through the video playlists for Camp Bothin, Camp Skylark Ranch, and Camp Sugar Pine below to learn more about the more-than-capable people who helped make girls’ camp experiences positively unforgettable in 2017.

Camp Bothin

Just half an hour north of the Golden Gate Bridge, tucked away in its own cozy canyon in the charming County of Marin, Camp Bothin is the perfect place for first time campers as well as seasoned experts. Director Falco, Bigby, and Shortcake are excited to meet new campers, take them on hikes through the redwoods, and teach them their favorite camp songs.

Camp Skylark Ranch

Overlooking the Pacific Ocean north of Santa Cruz, Skylark Ranch offers exciting opportunities for campers seeking high adventure, such as ropes courses, horseback riding, and archery. In addition to Director Hawkeye, we have lots of new and familiar faces for you to meet, including Mole, Strawberry, Thunder, and Bandit, our assistant director and equestrian director for Skylark Ranch’s beloved horse program.

Camp Sugar Pine

With its towering and enchanting forest, exciting outdoor programs and western themed activities, Camp Sugar Pine offers girls a fantastic getaway in the Sierra Nevada foothills. You can rely on Director Tulip to get the job done—she’s worked at Camp Sugar Pine for eight years now! And Pockets, the new Program Manager, is looking forward to sharing how fascinating bugs are with her knowledge of entomology.

Camps are running now through August, and registration is still open for some sessions. Discover more about our summer camps at camprocks.org!
